The Alaska Experience Theatre is just one block west of where the old Denali Theatre stood.  The theatre is located in one of Anchorage’s most historical and culturally-rich areas.  During the 1964 earthquake, the earth dropped more than 10 feet away from 4th Avenue.  So as you look out below from 4th Avenue to 3rd Avenue, you can only imagine how much land was taken away by the natural forces of an earthquake that measured 9.2.

The theatre offers local schools a unique setting to teach in with the use of a state-of-the-art 3D-capable projection system and an assortment of larger-than-life pictorial panels found in the 4th Avenue Marketplace.

Whether your class is studying geography, humanities, art, environmental science, historty, or Alaskan studies;  we have engaging activities for students of all ages!   Alaska enthusiasts will be thrilled with our new 2D movies Journey to Alaska & Northern Lights Adventure.  History buffs will want to see the 1964 Earthquake Documentary while experiencing it in our SafeQuake Theater. After you are done with the movie, check out our free exhibits and walking tour throughout the 4th Avenue Market Place.

Elementary, middle school, high school and college teachers can obtain lesson plans and more information from the USGS website Students & Teachers Earthquake Link.
